MAU WAU “MAU WAU“, ein Zeichentrickfilm für Kinder im Vorschulalter thematisiert die Eifersucht zwischen MAU, einer Katze und WAU einem Hund. WAU lebt mit seinem Frauchen in friedlicher Eintracht bis zu dem Tag, an dem sie MAU vor dem Ertrinken retten. Doch anstelle von Dankbarkeit findet der Hund eine Rivalin vor, die um die Aufmerksamkeit seines Frauchens buhlt. WAU und MAU machen sich von nun an gegenseitig das Leben schwer, bis schließlich der Hund in eine lebensbedrohliche Lage gerät. Diesmal rettet die Katze den Hund. Aber,- wie es zwischen Hund und Katze nun mal läuft, - hinterher geht die Streiterei wieder von vorne los. MAU WAU The animation film “MAU WAU” for pre-school children deals with jealousy between the cat MAU and the dog WAU. The German Film and Media Rating Organization FBW rates the film “Especially Valuable”. A little girl goes fishing with her dog. With her hook the girl catches a bag in which she finds a half-dead cat. The kind dog gives the cat snout-to-snout resuscitation and brings the cat back to life. But the cat shows very little gratitude, and soon they are tearing each other’s fur out – with almost fatal consequences. For “He who digs a ditch for others falls into it himself” – and that’s just what happens. Light and spritely with handsome black-and-white images, whereby the friendly dog is coloured blue and the nasty cat orange, this lively film recounts a parable about love-hate relationships and loyalties, friendships and the endless battle between dog and cat as symbols of similarly embattled “relatives”, a battle that is not really necessary and, as one sees in MAU WAU, can be brought to a close with no further ado. Particularly exhilarating about this delightful story is the mimicry of the cat, whose diabolical smile is simply beguiling and documents how much wit and skill has gone into the making of this little film. The music also blends very well with the plot and underscores the drama, the comedy and the lively animation of MAU WAU, the fairytale of the blue dog and the orange cat .
